  • The Land of the FREE-bee

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a love for all things free.  I love to search the internet for free deals, and come around with something that I generally would not splurge on...because I got it FREE.

With that as a preface, I just wanted to tell you about one of my very fav. websites, where FREE things abound!  My pal Clair set up this site, and I visit it every day.  I love to see what I can get for a little bit of nothing.  It's the game I play in stores.

    Yesterday I got:

2 packages of Mentos gum, 1 20-oz of Dr. pepper, and 1 6-pack of Fiber One toaster pastires...all for 75 CENTS!!!

    So here's the link: www.mummydeals.org

And there's a great giveaway going on right now too.  What are you waiting for?

This morning in Sunday school, our teacher was talking about the miracle of the Incarnation, and she found herself having a difficult time trying to explain what she was saying.  I don't know, but I guess I think that our very confusion says something profound about the miracle which happened in lowly Bethlehem so very long ago.  We are truly unable to wrap our finite minds around the miracle.  It is absolutely amazing to me how every little detail needed to work out for the story of Redemption to fulfill all the prophecies, and to work in line with the Old Testament sacrificial system.  And every single detail is in place.

Immanuel.  Our God is with us.

A song by Sara Groves keeps running through my head...

Hope has a way of turning its face to you just when you least expect it.  You walk in a room you look out a window and something there leaves you breathless.  You say to yourself it's been awhile since I felt this, it feels like it might be HOPE!

I guess that is the theme of the Incarnation which is being made very real to me this year: HOPE.  At such a dark time in history, God chose to send His son.  To send HOPE to the world.  Even so today, in the midst of an economic recession and in a world where evil seems to be prevailing, the message is the same: HOPE.  This is not a cheesy little I-hope-the-sun-shines-tomorrow kind of hope, this is a firm yet gentle belief that the God is good, and He will remain victorious in the end.  It's a reminder that He has walked before us, He knows our pain, He calls us to HOPE in Him, and to shine that HOPE to a HOPEless world.

Let's go do that this Christmas.

    The light.

Yes, I can see it....it may be off in the distance, but it's there.  There is one song ringing through my head right now (sing it with me Mac Powell) :::

There's a LIGHT at the end of this tunnel, there's a light at the end of this tunnel

You get the drift.  Yes, I feel like the end is in sight.  The light still seems way off in the distance, BUT IT'S THERE!!!

6 more days of classes, 2 more papers, and 6 finals to go.  Yes, the light is still in the distance, but the past six weeks have had me feeling very, very snowed under, and it's good to see the end in sight.  Next Wednesday I head on up to Ohio for 4 wonderful days of being at HOME.  YAY!!  I am ready to have my momma take care of me for a few days!  :)

It's been a good semester.  It's been long, it's been hard, but it's been real good too.  I thank God for leading me here to TFC.  I'm so blessed to be at a school where I can be taught the things that I am taught here.  It's been really good to get to know some really good people too, and to expand my world beyond the comfy little box which I can so quickly build.  This is another good season in my life.

I must run along...my pal Melville is demanding more of my attention.  He can be so demanding sometimes.

I'll see some of you in just a few little days!!!

  • Today I welcomed the visit of an old friend.  She came dressed in her autumn best and even wore the freshest scent of perfume I’ve smelled in awhile.  I smiled when I woke up this morning, knowing she was here.  She promised to stay around for 30 days.  Her arrival is exciting to me because during her visit some extremely exciting events will take place.  The best of all will happen on day 26 of her visit.  This excitement includes myself and another northern girl headed to Ohio on Interstate 77, followed by four wonderful days of being at HOME!!  When her visit comes to a close, I will only have two more weeks left of the fall semester of my sophomore year.

Welcome November…I’m so glad you’re here!

  • Caught in the middle

Every morning as Little Bo Peep (that's the name of my car) and I head out the driveway, I am reminded of what is taking place next Tuesday.  As I look to the left to check for oncoming traffic, I see this in the neighbor's lawn:

    mccain-palin

A quick glance to the right, and I see this (minus the person holding the sign):

    obama biden

If you'll please excuse the tiny pictures.  They refuse to cooperate with me here.

It's hard to believe that one week from right now this crazy race will be over.  Operation Chaos is about to come to a close.  One week from today, we will have a new leader making his plans to enter the highest office in our country.  I know that there are many people who are very anxious this week, and I have to admit that I also have one candidate I would much prefer to see get the job.  But through all this chaos God has been reminding me that my citizenship is in another country, that one man is never going to fix all of our nation's problems (just as one man has not caused them all), and that I can't put my trust in being an American.

What will be the main buzz of conversation once the election is over???
